There are so many social media channels that it is hard to keep up and to figure out what works best for you! Much of it depends on your target market and where they hang out and much of it depends on your product and the content you produce. However, there is one channel that I recommend to all biz owners and that is Facebook GROUPS. You will notice I did not say Facebook or Facebook ads – in fact, Facebook pages as a form of marketing has become increasingly more difficult to master and to drive engagement. Facebook GROUPS, on the other hand, has been an effective way for me and my clients to grow our business. Here are three ways you can benefit from Facebook groups:
- Connect – One of the best aspects of Facebook groups is the ability to connect with other people who are just like you. You can literally find a group for your industry, your region, your passion or interest… try it! Search by whatever you are interested in or by the industry of your business or the type of entrepreneur you are and see what comes up! Join a few groups. You can connect with others to share learnings, ideas, resources, etc. There are few other platforms where you can have conversations with others in such an easy format.
- Learn – Not only are the groups a great place to find others just like you but they are a great place to learn. You can find groups that are led by influencers who are experts in your field. Most influencers will run a group where the goal is to connect and also to educate. Often times there are online resources, FB Lives, etc that are offered to the group. You can also utilize groups to ask questions and gain insight or recommendations from others in the group. For instance members of my MompreneurTribe Facebook Group have asked “how do you track your mileage” or “do you have recommendations on a local printer” or “how do I download a FB live”.
- Sell – Join groups where your target market hangs out and where people like your target market hang out. #1 rule: read the rules of the group. Most people have rules on posting promos – don’t be spammy or overly promotional if not allowed in the group – that is the biggest way to turn off people. However, when someone posts a need for something you offer, comment with your service as a suggestion. Or add valuable content, suggestions or ideas as posts that are not promoting your business but are establishing you as a thought leader and more importantly as someone who genuinely wants to help others. From there, the business leads will follow. For instance I follow several Bethesda Moms Facebook groups. When someone asks for a suggestion on where to throw a birthday party or where to take their kids for classes, I offer Kidville as a suggestion. I have landed several Kidville clients as a result.
Comment below and let me know how Facebook Groups have helped your business. And if you are a mompreneur, female entrepreneur, any kind of entrepreneur, would love for you to join my MompreneurTribe Facebook Group.
