Two of the most common questions I get asked from clients is “How do I come up with content to write/shoot video about” and “How do I get myself or business on TV”? My answer to both of these questions generally involves a well thought out content marketing strategy. What does that mean? It means taking a look at the months ahead and thinking strategically and seasonally about the content that makes most sense. This would apply for blog posts, videos, and PR pitches.
In the last two months I have appeared on TV for the following segments (see below to check out the clips):
- Superbowl themed party tips
- Tips for conquering NYE resolutions
- Black Friday deals
Local TV stations love featuring segments on timely, seasonal topics so use that to your advantage when crafting your pitch to the media. The same can be applied to your blog/video content? Think of seasonal occasions, holidays, upcoming movies/books, sales cycle/events in your specific industry and figure out how to get creative in tying your biz or industry to that topic….valentines day, st patricks day, spring cleaning, spring break travel, tax day…can you use any of these topics as a starting point for a blog point or pitch?
