I recently returned from a 10 day whirlwind trip to India. I am fortunate enough to have a husband who not only stayed home with our boys so that I could travel on this journey (thank goodness for March Madness and Michigan basketball!); but, who really encouraged me to go on this trip and enjoy a break from mompreneurship. I traveled to India with my mother in law and sister in law, which many are shocked to hear! But I am lucky enough to have a fantastic relationship with both and we truly had a fabulous trip.
We were able to experience the Indian tradition of Holi, a Hindu holiday known as the Festival of Colors in which people throw dyed powder and water at each other in celebration of the arrival of spring. We traveled to the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal, visited family, and shopped a ton! I’ve shared more details about my journey to India in the Huffington Post Travel section. Click here to read more.
In the end, the most rewarding aspect of my trip was the feeling of gratitude I experienced throughout. Gratitude that I have such a strong relationship with my in-laws to be able to take this trip together. Gratitude that I was able to experience such a beautiful and diverse country in a way that I hadn’t before. Gratitude for the moments in life that teach you not to take anything for granted. And, gratitude for my “home” away from home.
